Is America doomed?
The good news is no, America is not doomed. The bad news is that America is actually over. Gone. Done with. Ended. What we have now is… something, but not America. Imitation America. Fake America. Substitute America. Phony America. Pretend America.
Can we fix America? Can we Make America Great Again? Can we finish-up this Play-Like America hooie and have the old, Original America again? We might be able to do that, but probably will not, because The People Who Own America must like it like this… or are they too stupid to know the difference? Are some/many/most Americans too stupid to know the difference? Is it too late?
So… what now? Well, I tell you, friend, I really have no freaking idea. Mind you, I am not happy about this, but I have no idea what to do, other than mind my own garden and keep my head down and Hope It Goes Away. I do not think I can fix it. I suspect it can not be fixed. I suspect it is all down-hill from here.
I have Hope that The Bright Future we all wanted may still be there ahead. I have hope. That and a dollar or two might get me a cup of coffee at Starbucks.
As I try my hide-in-place scheme to avoid the boogieman (or bogieman, or boogeyman, or boogie man), I hope you-all are doing well.
And maybe things aren’t as bad as they seem!
In other news, Dilbert creator Scott Atams reports:
Some Fake News About Me from Bloomberg
Posted March 22nd, 2017 @ 12:44pm
Last autumn, before the election, a writer for Bloomberg asked to spend a day with me to interview me for a feature piece about my blogging on Trump, and my life in general. I could tell from the initial conversation that it was going to be a hostile article. The reporter was open about being deeply frightened of Trump, believing him to be a racist, sexist, homophobic monster. So you can imagine how she felt about me for writing flattering blog posts about his persuasion talents.
I quickly determined that agreeing to the interview would be foolhardy. Obviously it was going to be a hit piece. The writer weakly tried to conceal that fact, but failed miserably.
If I agreed to the interview, I knew I would be making myself the target of ridicule and shame, baring my flaws to the world—both the real ones and the fake news ones. No rational person would agree to such an interview. It was a suicide mission.
So I agreed to the interview.
He then shows all the lies, distortions, and Fake News that resulted. It’s quite droll. Or drool? Whaever.
Last Thursday we came out of the eye-doctor’s office up in Show Low, Arizona, and it was SNOWING!. Some days…!
Speaking of Fascism, let me recommend a book about that: Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning by Jonah Goldberg. It is very illuminating, and you can get it for Kindle, or in hardback, or in paperback from Amazon.com via those just given links. Horifying, of course, since it is not what they told us in their lying government-run schools, but you know by now you have been lied to all along, right?
Was that worth reading?
