Juarez

Juarez

This is picture from my Aunt's house (my Mom's before she passed. Actually a family property.). It is of Ciudad, Juarez Mexico.

A .50 BMG Barrett rifle was recovered when El Chapo was arrested. It was a gun from Operation Fast and Furious. My Aunt's house is less than a mile from the shopping mall in the picture which is in Juarez.

Five years ago El Chapo's Sinaloa Cartel was fighting it out with the Juarez Cartel to control the corridor through Juarez and El Paso. Barrett Fifties have more than a mile range.

I will support any candidate whose platform includes sending the Shirts behind Operation Fast and Furious to Mexico on gunrunning charges. And i will never forget Hillary Clinton was part of the Administration during which it occurred and who later tried to cover up "GunWalker."

Re: "How To Teach" by Kaptain Kanada, aka Manuel Miles

Good article, though I'm inclined towards the opinion that even as much deliberate education as advocated is [usually] too much. Before you spend too much energy on lesson plans and such, I would suggest you read "How Children Learn" by John Holt (get the revised version) and some John Taylor Gatto—"Dumbing us Down" and "Weapons of Mass Instruction" are two of his best.

Another piece to note: In my own experience, young children are perfectly capable of learning effectively from a long lecture if and only if the material is interesting to and freely chosen by the child.

Failing interest, the best option is to watch and wait for moments of interest and remember that sometimes that moment may be measured in seconds. Once a topic of interest shows itself, feed that and forget about the lesson plans. As mentioned in the article, everything is connected, and everything needed to get along perfectly well can be taught (or learned without being taught) through practically any interest imaginable.

Perhaps the stickiest issue today is video games engineered to be addictive. Probably the best answer is for them to disappear entirely, difficult though that is. I escaped that, probably in large part through not having a TV around (and then only connected to movies) until I was nine. No regrets there. Unplug it and you and your children will be better off.

Even if you are stuck having to send your kids to government school you are free to teach them yourself. Also, kids can teach themselves a lot. Set them loose to do so.
