Two Chapters From General Jenny
by L. Neil Smith
AUTHOR'S NOTE: A little while ago, L. Neil Smith's The Libertarian Enterprise ran an earlier chapter of theis work-in progress I've been writing with my old friend, libertarian singer-composer Craig Franklin. In the story so FAR, 'way down South, where the continents meet, a Miskito Indian village shaman tells his followers of a warrior spirit, in the form of a girl, a sort of latter-day Joan of Arc, who will help their people throw off a murderous dictatorship. Asked if this is a prophecy, he shakes his head, and shows them a worn, dirty newspaper clipping...

Defund. Defang. Destroy: a Day at the Exempt America Rally 9/10/13
by Jeff Fullerton
Tuesday the 10th of September 2013 was a rough day coming and going. Beginning with the night before when I got home late and then had to get ready and also stop by the place of my friend the "Historian" to get his mail as I have been doing that week while he and his wife are away for vacation. Did not get in bed until long after midnight and was up at 5 for breakfast before heading out. Took the truck because I didn't want to chance my old Honda breaking down on the way to Monroeville. And had spent a little too much time messing around with stuff on the way out the door—it was quarter till as I approached the entry point to the turnpike so I hauled ass!

Please Return Our Tomorrows
by A.X. Perez
There I was minding my own business (stop laughing, dammit) when I saw a sign in a classroom teachers door. "Please Return tomorrow." (The teacher had put it up about half an hour after school was done for the day.)

The unabridged audio version of my 1983 novel The Nagasaki Vector, brilliantly read by the great libertarian radio host Brian Wilson, is finally available for purchase.

Many feel that this is the funniest book I've written so far—at least intentionally—and features our old friend Win Bear, G. Howell Nahuatl, a sapient coyote, time traveler Bernie Gruenblum, and Georgie, the time machine who loves him.

EDITORIAL MATTERS

Take a look at: survivalsheath.com

Historically, the liberals fought against government tyranny; against governmental abridgment of freedom of speech and action; against governmental restrictions on agriculture, manufacture, and trade; against constant detailed governmental regulation, interference and harassment at a hundred points; against (to use the phrases of the Declaration of Independence) "a multitude of new offices" and "swarms of officers"; against concentration of governmental power, particularly in the person of one man; against government by whim and favoritism. Historic liberalism called, on the other hand, for the Rule of Law, and for equality before the law. The older conservatives opposed many or most of these liberal demands because they believed in existing governmental interferences and sweeping governmental powers; or because they wished to retain their own special privileges and prerogatives; or simply because they were temperamentally fearful of altering the status quo, whatever it happened to be.
—Henry Hazlitt, The Free Mans Library (Princeton, New Jersey: D. Van Nostrad Company, Inc, 1956), pp. 11-12
