Well it is Chicago politics after all, where even dead people get to vote.

In other news, I see Open Office 3.0 is out. I'm downloading it right now.

Letters to the Editor
from from Nigel via Peter Cunningham to L. Neil Smith, David J. Earnest, Paul Bonneau, A.X. Perez, Jim Davidson

by L. Neil Smith
Readers of the earliest edition of The Probability Broach, my first novel, are aware, from the author's biography, that I departed Colorado State University in 1968, as a fifth year undergraduate in psychology, with perhaps the lowest gradepoint average in the history of... well, I just don't know. I have never been able to figure out whether I wasted the opportunity of a college education or it wasted me.

The Bar Sinister
by A.X. Perez
One of the nice things about the 1911 Colt pistol is that the "thumb safety" can be efficiently manipulated by the index finger of the left hand. Most pistols using frame mounted safeties have this same quality if the safety lever is of proper length. Even the flat little safety of the Millennium Pro shares this quality. On the other hand slide mounted safeties give me (and I assume other lefties) difficulties and thus require the mounting of ambidextrous safeties (a safety on each side of the pistol) on pistols like the Beretta 92.

More Voter Tampering

Spread the Word! LOS ANGELES (10/1)—Today a Beverly Hills based film producer Bettina Viviano, founder of Viviano Entertainment, announced the start of a "30 Day Campaign for Truth" about presidential hopeful Barack Obama. The campaign will center on a documentary film entitled "We Will Not Be Silenced" produced by Viviano Entertainment and directed by Gigi Gaston.

Why I Am Not a Conservative
by Jim Davidson
I think libertarians must come out directly, staunchly, entirely, and frequently against racism, sexism, gay bashing, immigrant bashing, and all the other tawdry aspects of the so-called conservative movement. I think we have to stand up and say that if you are a racist, you are not a libertarian, if you are a sexist, you are not a libertarian, if you are against equal freedom for gays, the transgendered, the polyamorous, you are not a libertarian, if you discriminate against people because of their choice of religion, you are not a libertarian, if you think people from other countries should be rejected because of their choices in clothing, culture, religion, or behavior, you are not a libertarian.
